Setting Up My Blog

This has been a both frustrating and interesting experience. The Richardson book was extremely vivid in its explanations for the use of blogs in the classroom. I found myself generating ideas for the classroom as I read through the chapters, even ideas for those of us who may not be entering the classroom.
I have to say I do not consider myself a very public person and could relate to the part of Richardson's book regarding this aspect. "These technologies make more of our lives transparent to others in ways that many find unsettling." (Richardson, p. 4-5)
I look forward to participating with you all!

  1. I can say that I agree with you regarding the unsetteling transparency of putting your information on the internet. However, I guess that, as with anything else that is new, it is important to remain careful about the safety issues, and not use them as an excuse not to travel outside of our own comfort zones. I appreciate you sharing your thoughts about this, as there are many young people who do not worry about this at all, and many older people who are not interested in learning at all. I find myself in the middle, curious yet cautious.

  2. Jessica: Thank you for appreciating my uneasiness about the idea of anything I write being put right out there for anyone to see! Also, thanks for opening my eyes to the fact that many young people do not worry about this at all...I guess I knew that but took for granted that if I am apprehensive my students must be...not always the case. Thanks...Jennifer
